City of Monroe

Another historic site in Monroe is the McDaniel-Tichenor House, home of former Georgia governor Henry D. McDaniel (1883-1886). The home is now open by appointment only and listed on the National Registry.

The largest festival in Walton County is Monroe's Crepe Myrtle Festival in September. The annual Monroe Criterium hosts amateur, professional, women's, handcycle, and kids races throughout the day.
